Outraged by this brutal crime, the townspeople take to the streets to demand immediate legal action. The police finally launches an investigation into the matter as a result of protests and public pressure. However, it is clear that the efficacy of the criminal justice system is marred by corruption, bureaucratic delays and red tapism. The legal set up is put to test in this small town, when the people begin to demand accountability and question whether women can rely on the current legal mechanism to ensure their bodily safety.
